This is how your customers pay you for their purchases
The Bluepark shopping software provides the facility as standard but it can be complex to complete the link to your bank account, the work required to complete this step (complete with training) is provided by Web Shop Designs as part of our starter pack.
Checkout types 1 - 4 are included in the starter pack
To keep this process simple our starter pack offers a choice of four checkout types suiting most requirements.
If you are unsure which checkout service is best for you, select "other" and Web Shop Designs will contact you to discuss your needs.
Depending upon your choice of checkout, you will require additional services from third party vendors, see below for details
Checkout 1
Use your existing merchant account
You will require a "customer not present" type merchant account allowing credit cards payments from your customers to be processed over the telephone, note: your existing "customer present" account can be upgraded if required.
If you are a start up business you may require up to 12 months certified trading to obtain a merchant account, consider checkout options 3 & 4
Following a transaction you will receive an email from the Bluepark software advising that a customer has bought items in your shop, logging on to your shop will allow you to manually process their credit card payment as if you were taking payment over the telephone (customer not present), your normal merchant account charges apply.
Security certificate
Price £69.99 for 1 year - £119.99 for 2 years
Checkout 1 will require a security certificate to allow your customers to safely enter their credit card details, we suggest using a Thawte certificate which is generally accepted worldwide

Checkout 2
Open an online merchant account
You will need to obtain an online merchant account from your bank, transactions are cheaper than customer not present accounts, however most banks charge approximately £20 per month for the facility
If you are a start up business you may require up to 12 months certified trading to obtain a merchant account, consider checkout options 3 & 4
You will also need a payment transaction handling service which provides the necessary checks on card transactions, i.e. valid card, postcode check, first line of address check etc. Checkout 2 includes this from Protx who will require a direct debit set up for £20 per month + VAT for this service
Following a transaction you will receive an email advising that a customer has bought items in your shop, logging on to your shop will allow you to see the details and gives you a traffic lights caution system detailing the match between the CSV number, postcode and first line of the address given by your customer during checkout

Checkout 3
Use paypal Pro
It should be noted that many banks require a minimum of 6-12 months of audited trading history in order to grant a merchant account. For relatively new or start-up businesses, PayPal offers a combined merchant account and payment solution, PayPal will charge a fee for each transaction handled of 1.4% - 3.4% depending on turnover
Website Payments Pro allows you to receive the customer's credit card details on your own site, protected by your own security certificate.

Checkout 4
Use Google checkout
It should be noted that many banks require a minimum of 6-12 months of audited trading history in order to grant a merchant account. For relatively new or start-up businesses, Google offers a combined merchant account and payment solution, Google will charge a fee for each transaction handled of 1.5% + 0.15p
Buyers visit your site, add items to their cart and choose Google Checkout.
InGoogle Checkout, their shopping cart information is automatically sent to Google as an XML file when they sign in and confirm payment and delivery details.
You process the orders in the Google Checkout Merchant Centre.
Checkout 4 will not require a security certificate or a Protx account
